Exciting News About Tahereh Mafi!

Hi, guys! How are you today? I have a party tonight. I really hope it goes better than my last one. Four double shots of tequila may not have been the best decision...I learned my lesson the bad way. 

I'm here today to share some great news. I read about it the other day and I just kept forgetting to post about it.

The Shatter Me trilogy by Tahereh Mafi is becoming a series! Yep, that's right. Three more books are coming our way.

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

You might be thinking, "is this a big deal?" Well, it is for me. I've previously mentioned how much I adored the books and the characters. So I'm incredibly happy with the news. I guess Tahereh has finally heard our pleas and/or read my post about authors I want to read more.

The fourth book, called Restore Me, is set to be released in 2018, which gives us plenty of time to re-read the first books. Or read them for the first time, what are you waiting for?

According to the author, it will be narrated from the POV's of Warner and Juliette and it will be set two weeks after Ignite Me. My God, this reminds me of how much I miss my precious Warner.

Reader Habits Tag

Hey, what's up, guys? Only one more day till the weekend. How great is that? Anyway, since I've done 2 Book Traveling Thursdays in a row, I thought I'd do a book tag to mix it up. Hence the Reader Habits Tag. 

Rules:

It's pretty straightforward, all you have to do is talk about 10 of your reader habits. Then you have to select 3 of your habits so the people you tag can discuss if they agree with them. You have to do the same with the 3 habits of the person you were tagged by.

Since I wasn't tagged by anyone (sad face), I'll discuss the 3 habits picked by BlogALaLuzDeLasVelas, which is where I saw the tag.

Many, in fact.

Let's get to the habits!

1) I can't read on cars or buses. I get really sick with that sort of movement. Especially if the drivers tend to slow down abruptly. I can only read on the subway or train.

2) I hate it when people highlight or mark books permanently. If there's a quote I like, I underline it with a pencil or use post-its. Please don't harm books in front of me or I will have to act violently.

3) Although I love having physical copies, I find it easier to read e-books. I usually read them much faster too. 

4) I collect bookmarks even if I always use the same ones. Don't judge me.

5) I only use proper bookmarks in books. No tissues, random papers, or candy wrappers. If I don't have one near me, then I just remember the page.

6) I like to finish the chapter before putting the book down. I can't seem to leave it on random pages. I swear I'm not obsessive.

7) I always have a hard time reading the last book in a series. My brain is subconsciously begging for a series to not be over. This is why there are plenty of trilogies/series I haven't finished yet.

8) I tend to only buy books I have already read. This way I make sure I love it and it won't be taking up space. I have a few exceptions lying around my bookshelf, though.

9) I like to read at night so I can daydream about the story and characters before going to sleep. I may also imagine I'm the main character, especially if there are interesting male characters involved. You didn't hear this from me, okay?

10) I don't like to take my books with me anywhere for fear I might lose or damage them.

Those are my habits.

Now the 3 habits from the other blog:

-She doesn't deem important to have a big collection of books.

I don't have gigantic bookshelves, I have a pretty small one. And my collection of books is really tiny. As much as I would like to say I don't find this important, I do. I would love to have a room full of books. That's the main reason I want to be successful or marry a rich guy. Whichever happens first. Jk. 

-She asks people to add a dedication to the books she receives as gifts.

I find it lovely when people do this. It adds a special sentimental value to the book. However, I would never ask someone to write something. I think it's much better if the gesture comes from them.

-She likes to picture the type of situations and characters that will appear in the book she's reading.

I'm not a person who really slows down to analyze every single thing that's going on. And I definitely don't stop to think what will come next. I do, however, notice certain things while I'm reading and think about how they will or could come into play later.

Well, that was fun! I even had to narrow down my habits. We're a bunch of weirdos.

Miscellaneous Monday

Hey guys! How are you today? The weather's horrible today in Argentina. Several areas are flooded, yet again.

I thought I'd do more of an update on what's going on in my life and how the book fair went. Would you like that? If not, well... you can stop reading.

I went on Thursday to the Argentine Book Fair, which is held once a year. It usually has some good deals so it's great for shopping. I needed some books for uni, but I would have gone anyway. 

I had a lot of fun. I had lunch with my friends, then we met with my mom, who is the reason I started going to the book fair when I was little, and off we went. 

I bought Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass for $100 pesos. That would be a bit over US$6. Quite cheap, right? 

After that, we met with my mom again, who had been sitting in a lounge area, and she surprised me with a book. Ever since I was little, she has always insisted I study Chinese. She hasn't succeeded so far. But in yet another attempt, she bought me "The Last Chieftain", which is about a love triangle between a mute girl, a chieftain and an outsider set in, you guessed it, China. A clever thing, my mother. 

I particularly wanted to go on Thursday because at 6pm there was a US College Fair. 65 US Colleges came an talked about their programs, etc. It is, of course, a very interesting opportunity and I try to go to as many fairs as possible on the subject.

You may know that I'm currently on my third year of Public Translation Studies and I was thinking of getting a master's degree abroad on the subject. Unfortunately, I haven't been that successful at finding one. Only a couple of universities offer it. I began thinking if a master's in translation would really help me in any way. How much could I learn from one? So now, I'm starting to look for master's in International Relations/Global Affairs or Journalism. I'm really interested in both of them, and they're much easier to find. 

Money is the main issue for me here. I can't afford tuition, so I'm definitely going to have to get financial aid. From what I've heard, many colleges have assistantships and stipends. So I'm crossing my fingers to find something that works for me.

Do you recommend any college in particular for those areas? I'd love to know.

Hi there! How are you doing? I'm super excited because I'm going to the Argentinian Book Fair tomorrow. It takes place once a year and I can't freaking wait. I have to get a lot of books for uni and that's the best place to get them cheaper. I'll also get some non-related school stuff too, but don't tell my mom. There's also an event where colleges from the US come to talk about studying abroad opportunities which is something I'm all for. Anyway, onto the reason you're here! Milking The Cow

Hello guys! How are you doing today? It's a lovely Saturday here in Argentina. It won't last much though, cause I have finally decided to go out tonight. That means that a tornado, avalanche and tsunami will hit my city soon. 

Onto more interesting things, I found out the other day that Cassandra Clare is coming out with a 10th anniversary edition of City of Bones. And I thought "haven't you had enough?" So today, we're talking about how I think Cassie is just milking the cow right now.

I used to be a HUGE fan of the whole shadowhunters world, I read the first 5 TMI books and all three of TID. In fact, I still watch the TMI movie when it's on tv and I'm on season 2 of Shadowhunters. So don't tell me that I haven't experienced the world or whatever other crap. I just think that after so many books, it's time for a change.

Top 5 Wednesday

Hello there! Don't worry, I'm not as angry as yesterday. How are you guys doing? I'm here today with another T5W! This week's topic is: 5 authors you want to read more from.

I'm not really loyal to authors in particular, but if I have enjoyed a book by them, then I will probably check out their other stuff. There's only a few of them who I'm actually devoted to. If you have read some of my previous posts, you'll probably guess who one of them is (hint: she's blonde). 

Let's get started, shall we?

1) R.S. Grey

Yes, I know I've mentioned her several times before. I absolutely adored Scoring Wilder but then didn't really like Settling the Score. I'm not discouraged by that though, she has plenty of other books. I just need to find the right ones. Definitely looking forwards to checking some out. She is one of the very few New Adult writers I like.

2) Rick Yancey

There will be a pattern here, you'll see I've talked about most of them before. I have read the first two books in the Fifth Wave trilogy. I loved them so I'm definitely going to read the third... at some point. I also want to see what he comes up with next!

3) Benjamin Alire Sáenz

I've only read one book by him, but it's all it took for me to fall in love with his writing. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe was one of my favorite 2014 reads and it has stuck with me. So I really want to check some of his other works.

4) Tahereh Mafi

Oh boy, where do I start with this amazing woman. I have read 3 books by her, so she's not entirely new to me. The Shatter Me trilogy is one of my all-time faves. It's so dark, full of twists and character development. If you haven't already, check it out. I heard she's releasing a new book called Furthermore. Despite it's beautiful cover, I don't really think is my sort of book. We'll see.

5) Sarah J. Maas

Did you guys guess it? Mis SJM is my queen and I shall read anything that she writes. I'm such a sucker for her characters, especially her fae males (wink wink.) I have read all her published books and I got so happy when the Throne of Glass saga got expanded to 7 books. I'm sad to see that the ACOTAR series is coming to an end but I'm so excited to see what's next!

Book Tag: 7 Deadly Sins of Reading

Hey guys! How's everyone doing? I'm...tired. Won't lie. But I'm here anyways. It's book tag Thursday, and I chose the 7 Deadly Sins of Reading tag. It sounds really cool so...

Let's get into it!

1) Greed: What's your most expensive book and most inexpensive book?

Do dictionaries count? Because those are certainly expensive and I own quite a few... I'm so boring. I'm sorry, but translators gotta translate, you know? My most inexpensive ones are probably the 3 House of Night books by P.C. Cast I own. I paid $50 (Argentine pesos) for each one, which is like $3.50 us dollars. 

2) Wrath: What author do you have a love/hate relationship with?

Hmm, I think I'll go with R.S Grey. As I've said in a previous post, I absolutely adored Scoring Wilder, but then I was left quite unimpressed with The Summer Games. I haven't given up on her yet, though. Do you have any good recommendations? 

3) Gluttony: What book have you deliciously devoured over and over again, with no remorse whatsoever?

I think I have mentioned this, but I'm not a re-reader. I prefer reading new books. But if I had to, I would re-read The Hunger Games. In fact, I'm planning on doing so. I really enjoyed those books, so why not?

4) Sloth: What book have you neglected reading due to laziness?

Which one haven't I is the better question. I'm always lazy when it's time to pick a book up. I end up enjoying them... most of the time. So, I don't know why it's so hard for me. I have been postponing Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban for quite a while now. Don't ask why, because I don't even know.

5) Pride: What book do you most talk about to sound like an intellectual reader?

Well, any classic, really. Or any from my lit class at university. The most complicated book I've read is Rayuela by Julio Cortázar. His books are compulsory reads in my country. His novels and short stories demand a deep analysis. Whenever you read one, you have to pause every 5 minutes to look a term or a reference up. So, if you want to feel really stupid every 5 lines, read that book. You get bragging rights after you finish it ;)

6) Lust: What attributes do you find most attractive in male or females characters?

Sense of humor. Well, that was easy. For love interests, I like it when they're dark and moody but with a good hidden heart. #basic. And for best friends, I like like honesty. And, again a good sense of humor. 

That t-shirt is 90% boyfriend material

7) Envy: What books would you most like to receive as a gift?

I'd like to get the new illustrated Harry Potter books. All of them, when they get released. They are just SO PRETTY. But, there are so many other books I want too! I can't pick.

Hey guys! I'm here writing a T5W on a Saturday, again. I got a lot of homework done and I'm writing my third post...I think a nerdy alien has possessed my body. 

This week's topic is: Favorite LGBTQ+ Reads. 

They can be either books with LGBTQ+ characters or books written by LGBTQ+ authors. I guess I'll have to do some research for this one, huh.

1) The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

If you have ever heard of The Mortal Instruments then you've probably also heard about #Malec. They're everyone's babies and you can't touch them. I mean it, don't. 

2) 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher

You probably have also heard about this one, but since it's a spoiler, and I'm a nice person, I won't talk about it. Read the book or watch the show!

3) Weirdos by Kat Kruger

I don't consider this a spoiler, because it is described as a self-discovery story. But I won't say who it is, just in case. This is a lovely story and you should all check it out, or at least check my review and then decide.

4) Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

THIS IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL STORY. Sorry. I'm okay now. I don't think it's a spoiler...the title pretty much gives it away. 

5) Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

My babies 💜 Again, I can't say who it is even if it's not that important. Check this book out, okay? I HAVE to read book 2 because I've heard some really interesting things about it regarding romantic relationships.

I have two extra ones

Extra 1) Arclight by Brandon Graham and Marian Churchland

As I said in my review, there are genderqueer characters here, which I find fantastic.

Extra 2) Eggshels by Ziggy Schultz (a story from Behind the Mask)

In this case, the author is part of the LGBTQ+ community. You guys should check this compilation of superhero stories. Her story was one of my faves. I'll leave the link to my review!
